Discover Japan
Tokyo, kyoto, hokkaido & okinawa
We didn’t come to Asia. Asia came to us -as a professional opportunity. Seven years later, I am extremely grateful about all the unexpected -these things that weren’t planned and brought us where we’ve been. It’s been a rich and fabulous journey, with a myriad of incredible adventures -here is our Top 20 experiences in Asia.
It’s doing karaoke while drinking green tea. It’s riding a quad dressed like Mario Kart before going to a sumo wrestling. Tokyo is everything and its contrary. Either you love it, or you hate it...
Surrounded by mountains, the city hides countless zen gardens, traditional ryokans, delicious restaurants, ancient temples and historic streets. The city is so full of enchanting sites, it's a pleasure just wandering around Kyoto, getting lost in search for new discoveries...
The islands of the Kerama group are a world away from everything you know. An archipelago surrounded by coral reefs and unbelievably transparent seas where time has stopped years ago. A place where you live in close communion with the ocean, in a unique atmosphere. It consists of 22 small islands, southwest of Okinawa's main island. It's picturesque, with few people and an incredible wildlife.
Planning our ski trip in Honshu wasn't easy, as there are more than 500 ski resorts to choose from! Talking about being spoiled when skiing in Japan... With only 10 days on the road, we choose to stay in 3 different places and move from there: Minakami, Nozawaonsen and Myoko...
One day I went skiing in Japan -and it literally changed my life. First days in that legendary powder and I was hooked. I went from enjoying it to LOVIN' IT! There's skiing, and there's skiing in Japan. And that's two different things...
Thanks to the near-constant storm cycles coming from Siberia, Hokkaido's mountains are renowned for having some of the most consistent, lightest powder on Earth. With its laid-back, surfing-town vibe, Niseko is the most popular town of the island...
With an average annual snowfall of 15 meters, it's clear why Hokkaido is known as one of the hottest ski destinations in the world. Located in northern Japan, the island gets the cold air from Siberia across the Sea of Japan, which results in the ski resorts being absolutely DUMPED with dry powder.
I've heard there are more foxes than people during summer in Hokkaido -it kinds of reminds me another place I fell in love with a few years ago. If you dream about an escape in the countryside with fresh air, outdoors and excellent Japanese food, well you're in for a treat...
Jozankei is a hot spring village lost in Shikotsu-Toya National Park, an hour from Sapporo. In winter, the atmosphere is particularly special, as the onsen's hot steam blowing out of the ground contrasts with the snow-covered landscape. In this very town, we've lived one of the most beautiful experiences since we started traveling 4 years ago...
Day after day in the season, the snow is getting deeper, the landscapes whiter and the city increasingly beautiful with her thick white coat. Sapporo is the most convenient destination for a 4 days trip in Hokkaido: obviously for the snow, plus a great food scene, nightlife and plenty to do.
First stop of our Hokkaido ski trip: Otaru, Kiroro and Kokusai! Not only the views are stunning and the Japanese atmosphere unique, but the powder in Hokkaido is champagne of the finest type, being not only one of the deepest but also the liiightest in the world! A detail that change my love for snowboard to addiction.
2015. What a year -again! I'm so incredibly thankful and humbled by everything that came from this year. I went to places I didn't even know existed before -to name one, Okinawa-, swam in the clearest water I've seen, snowboarded in the legendary powder snow of Japan, met incredible people from all over the world...
Whether you want to soak up the atmosphere of Germany's typical Christmas markets, meet Santa's elves or ride the legendary Polar Express to the North Pole, here are The 10 Most Magical Christmas Destinations On The Planet, where you can almost guarantee your dream Christmas will take place...
Tokyo. The sublime, the vibrant, the dazzling, the futuristic. TOKYO. First time I set foot in the city, I couldn't believe it -is that all real or am I in a movie scene? The language, the food, the culture, the architecture, the humor, EVERYTHING is different from what I know. It's thrilling. Since I've discovered the city, I can't help coming back again and again.
Japan is a mysterious country, isolated, that makes every travelers dream. It's a high-tech world mixed with deep traditions. It's an experience. Let me tell you what makes me love that country so much...
Imagine a place where people take the time to breath. To grow their own vegetables. Cook each meal homemade. Feel the wind on their face. Talk with strangers -and share a bottle of saké. Watch the waves dancing on the beach... This place is called Okinawa...
One of the good points of being based in HK is the proximity with Japan. I can take a night flight and be eating my fresh sushis breakfast in Tsukiji Fish Market the next day. Considering all the places I've visited so far, Tokyo is the best city I have ever explored. For many, many different reasons. I've put together lots of great things to do in Tokyo and concocted a quick guide to Tokyo in 48 hours -安全な旅!
*Yes, obviously, they do make the best sushis ever.
2014 has been a little bit crazy. A wedding. A hug with a koala. A one way ticket to Hong Kong. A kiss with an elephant. A jump from a plane. A Korean karaoke. A trek in the Himalayas. An encounter with a Buddhist monk. A Japanese garden. A cat café. A never to be forgotten curry. Yeah, we've pretty much kicked our bucketlist this year*.
