We didn’t come to Asia. Asia came to us -as a professional opportunity. Seven years later, I am extremely grateful about all the unexpected -these things that weren’t planned and brought us where we’ve been. It’s been a rich and fabulous journey, with a myriad of incredible adventures -here is our Top 20 experiences in Asia.

A friend inspired me to write this post when she told me how rude I was, shoving people in the streets of Tokyo. “You do that in France, they will kill you!” Mmmh. So I guess this is what happens when you live in Asia too long…

I never thought I would find myself hiking to the center of an active volcano at 2 am in the morning fighting off clouds of suffocating volcanic gasses for the sake of seeing some blue flames... But believe it or not, the unique experience makes it worth it.

Suffice it to say that I've fallen in love with Indonesia. In Bali, there's the best and the worst, so you'd better keep moving to find the place that will really charm you. Then you'll eventually understand why the hell people love it so much. For us, this place is called Uluwatu. With its easygoing spirit, it's the place that kind of... make sense, shall we say? 

You can spend the day overflying desert islands and the night trekking on a volcano; attend a cooking class on the morning and ride a zipline in the jungle with wild monkeys around you on the afternoon. In short, it's a whole different world that awaits you with surprises you won't even imagine... Pack your flip-flops, swimsuit and passport. You're off to a big adventure!

Nusa Lembongan is the kind of place where you find yourself immersed in adventure and the outdoors. Some would say there's not much to do besides lying on the beach, however we found ourselves pretty busy during our stay -between a swim with massive mantas, cliff jumps, sunrise jog on the beach and Bintangs with the locals. Get ready for a journey in the Bali of your dreams...

We lived in Indonesia for a year, and were lucky to have Bali as our 'weekend destination'. We spent a lot of time on the island of Gods, and we loved it. We hated it. We loved it. We hated it -you see my point. My question is: why the hell does everyone LOVE Bali so much? What about the 17.000 other island in Indonesia, and Southeast Asia, and the rest of the world?  It might be the exotic weather, the down-to-earth lifestyle, the laid-back vibes, or maybe...

As you've probably noticed, there is ONE thing I love as much as traveling: drawing. I never go on a trip without my little notebooks & watercolors -illustration is part of the trip. Inspired by the voyage, I make designs for dreamers, thinkers, adventurers, doers and travelers of the world…

Batu Karas is a coastal village surrounded by jungle, rice terraces and a perfect black beach facing the sunrise. It possesses a rare charm and friendly vibe. The local are a large part of what makes that place special -always smiling, eager to interact with visitors and to share their culture.

Our trip across Java is one of the most extraordinary we have ever done. Obviously in terms of scenery, but also for the people, the atmosphere, the silence, the smoke slowly coming out of that huge crater, that feeling to be privileged to be walking on the Moon, and that pristine nature...

Southeast Asia is a marvelous part of the world which perfectly balances mysterious temples, breathtaking landscapes and ancient history. There are so many unmissable things here that any personality would be able to find its happiness. It's an inexhaustible source of creative and spiritual inspiration.

From Java to Sulawesi, I've seen wonders I could hardly believe they actually exist. Either you're going for a couple of weeks or for a long term trip, I hope you'll enjoy Indonesia as much as I did -and I hope this post will help you decide your itinerary. 

We stayed almost a year in Indonesia, expats, based in Jakarta. Unfortunately we had to eat, therefore, we had to work -and couldn't spend all our time traveling. But, still, we took the time to explore the islands and discover heavenly places. Let me think back to these amazing memories...
