5th day of rain here. We get a message from a couple of friends in Aveyron “It snows like it hasn’t been for 30 years! Fresh snow is everywhere. It looks AMAZING. Come here!”. That’s how we’ve ended up running to the nearest sports shop to buy some ski gear, packing up our stuff in a couple of hours then leaving the next day for a spontaneous road trip in a snow wonderland !
Here’s the story. She always dreamt about the big cold Arctic. So they went on their first “big trip” together in Lapland, Finland. Where we proposed -in one of the most romantic settings, by minus 25°C! It was so beautiful they won’t stop kidding about how beautiful it would be to get married there...
I have to admit, when I started packing I panicked a little bit -I was scared of my baby’s tiny little hands and feet freezing. But once we were there, I realised it’s a picnic -as long as you have the required gear for extremely cold weather. What to pack, what to expect, discover our survival guide to traveling in Lapland with a baby !
Planning a trip in Lapland can seem overwhelming. It can be kind of remote, it’s cold, it’s expensive. So you pack up pretty much all the winter clothes you own, hopping it will be enough to fight the cold, and you get on that plane…
Planning our ski trip in Honshu wasn't easy, as there are more than 500 ski resorts to choose from! Talking about being spoiled when skiing in Japan... With only 10 days on the road, we choose to stay in 3 different places and move from there: Minakami, Nozawaonsen and Myoko...

Thanks to the near-constant storm cycles coming from Siberia, Hokkaido's mountains are renowned for having some of the most consistent, lightest powder on Earth. With its laid-back, surfing-town vibe, Niseko is the most popular town of the island...
With an average annual snowfall of 15 meters, it's clear why Hokkaido is known as one of the hottest ski destinations in the world. Located in northern Japan, the island gets the cold air from Siberia across the Sea of Japan, which results in the ski resorts being absolutely DUMPED with dry powder.
Jozankei is a hot spring village lost in Shikotsu-Toya National Park, an hour from Sapporo. In winter, the atmosphere is particularly special, as the onsen's hot steam blowing out of the ground contrasts with the snow-covered landscape. In this very town, we've lived one of the most beautiful experiences since we started traveling 4 years ago...
Day after day in the season, the snow is getting deeper, the landscapes whiter and the city increasingly beautiful with her thick white coat. Sapporo is the most convenient destination for a 4 days trip in Hokkaido: obviously for the snow, plus a great food scene, nightlife and plenty to do.
First stop of our Hokkaido ski trip: Otaru, Kiroro and Kokusai! Not only the views are stunning and the Japanese atmosphere unique, but the powder in Hokkaido is champagne of the finest type, being not only one of the deepest but also the liiightest in the world! A detail that change my love for snowboard to addiction.
