How To Find Happiness Right Where You Are?

Travel is a little bit like a drug -once you start, it can be difficult to stop, and the more you do it, the more you want to keep doing it. Thus come the post-trip depression. Anyway, in some ways, it's difficult to imagine always being happy. Or is it? What if the only thing you need to do to find happiness right where you are was to change your focus?

Life isn't perfect. But it's pretty dawn good. Like so many things, how happy your are comes down to how you choose to live your life. On the road, our mind and soul are wide awake. We are in control of our days. Happy with simple things. Sometimes, we are the person we've dreamed to become. Then once the trip is over, it's often hard to keep that open-minded spirit in your daily routine. We tend to forget to smile to strangers, to sing in the shower and we think only about one thing: our next adventure.

We're all in the pursuit of happiness -but we can't live in the past or the future. Happiness is right where you are, in every moment. There is NO EXCUSE not to be happy RIGHT NOW. Because time doesn't wait for anyone... So, how to change that? Here's 10 ways to be happy everyday, no matter where you are, so that you're all set for a stellar 2016!

1. WAKE UP WITH THE SUN
Yes, happiness is that simple. Rise with the sun and treat yourself with some extra time for yourself -no emails, no phone, no kids. Get on your inspiring morning routine. It can be some yoga, a hot tea and the news, making your 'to-do-list' for the day, reviewing your goals, doing 10 minutes of meditation... There is something soothing in realizing you've accomplished at lot and it's only 7 am...

2. GO OUTSIDE AND MAKE EVERYDAY SUNDAY
During your travels, you probably spent most of your time outside, exploring and having fun -why should you change your good habits to stay STUCK on your couch? Got a long lunch break? Start a regular run or bike ride with your coworkers. Some extra work to do on the evening? Work from your terrace with a cosy blanket and a glass of wine. Sick of public transports? Go skating to your office. Don't forget: routine is the enemy... of LIFE!

3. CRANK THE TUNES AND DANCE/SING IN THE SHOWER
Seriously. It's like chocolate. It does help. You've just gotta find the right playlist. And there. You. Go.

4. BE CREATIVE
You're not born to pay bills and die! Research suggest creative people are actually happier than everyone else. So use your imagination and CREATE -absolutely anyone can be creative, though different people have different talents. Just came back from a long trip? Edit your videos, create a photo album, change your interior design inspired by your last destination, organize a travel theme party and cook an exotic dinner for your friends... 

5. ADOPT THE YES THEORY
How many times have you said "I can't do it, I don't know how, it wasn't on my plans..."? Saying no is often the easier way out. When you say no you can safely stay within your comfort zone. You don't have to fear failing or being rejected. The scary unknown can be avoided. And the fun, too!! If you say YES your life can expand. Start saying YES to open up to a happier life! In the end, we only regret the chances we didn't take.

6. CONNECT WITH PEOPLE
Having friends is tremendously important for our health and happiness. On the road, you meet friends everyday -we're always happy to meet travelers from other paths of life. Back home, it's a bit different -we've already got our great old group of friends. Don't be afraid to CHANGE. Meet people, make new friends, people who have lived the same kind of experiences as you, people who understand you, people who will CHALLENGE you.

7. MAP ON YOUR DREAMS
Life is short, and someday is NOT a day of the week! It is imperative we make sure to have fun now, along the way, or we waste our time on boring obligations. What is your dream -the one? Decide you want it to happen. For real. Believe it, and make everything you can to make it happen. Starting NOW. As they say, if you can dream it, you can DO IT! 

8. READ/WATCH SOMETHING INSPIRING
Happiness is something we create. Your trip is over and you dream to be back on the road? Read an inspiring travel book, watch a movie that will take you back on the adventure spirit... Surround yourself with an inspiring environment: put up some pics and quotes on your walls. And my favorite: use Pinterest for great inspiration!

10. REMEMBER YOU HAVE THE CHOICE
You are in the control of your life. Stop waiting for someone to come and help you realizing your dream life. It won't happen. There is no miracle -MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. Get the hell out of your comfort zone and LIVE!
